Other schools of yoga

During the twentieth century, many other yoga institutions were founded, in nearly all instances having a founding guru.

They teach meditation and yoga techniques such as those outlined in this article. Most of the larger schools that teach a significant component of postural yoga have been mentioned.

However, there are now hundreds of schools all over the world that teach yoga of one form or another, many of them having meditation as a central practice. Among those which are perhaps better known are:

the Santa Cruz Yoga Institute, Kaivalyadhama (at Lonavala),

the Himalaya Institute (from Svami Rama),

the Brahma Kumaris, Sahaja Yoga (from Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi),

Kriya Yoga (from Babaji, Shri Yukteshvar, Yogananda and Hariharanda),

TM (from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi), and Sri Chinmoy.
